Fantasy football roundup

Txagorri FC finally showed signs of life this weekend after an uncertain start to the season, amassing 66 points despite the absence of key midfielders Gareth Barry and Juan Sebastián Verón.

The signing of Turkish international Muzzy Izzet — described as ‘this year’s Jason Koumas’ by manager Tony Orlando — during the break for internationals was key. While the imposing forward line of van Nistelrooy, Anelka, and Henry performed as well as ever, with six goals between them, support was lacking before Monday. Only Southampton’s Michael Svensson came away from the weekend with more than two points.

Club sources have rubbished claims that there is any significance in the similarity between the team’s performance chart and club badge.

Elsewhere in the Wykey league, second-placed Peruvian Pumas inched a point closer to the surprise front runners, England Disjointed.

As expected, things are quiet on the transfer front. The Pumas are keeping their cards close to their chest, while we learn that England Disjointed have snapped up James Beattie as a replacement for the suspended Jason Euell.

I don’t watch NFL

But good God, Jamal Lewis turned in an incredible performance. He gained 295 yards, breaking the NFL rushing record for a single game in the process. From what I’ve heard, he ran further with his first attempt than the Cleveland side managed in the entire game.
