Wow. The RSSSF site is incredible. There’s such a wealth of information available from the linked sites, including a more accessible set of UEFA coeffecients.
In lieu of doing anything myself, I’d just point you at the ranking table for the last five completed seasons. Arsène Wenger said that Arsenal were the fifth-best side in Europe last season, according to the rankings.
Not these rankings. They even came behind Liverpool (?!) and, over the last five seasons, have only been the seventh-best side in Europe.
Also worth noting is that although three of the top four are Spanish, only one of those teams is in this year’s Champions League. If that’s not a statement about the quality of their domestic league, I don’t know what is.
